DefectAs part of our continuous quality monitoring we have found that the leaf springs of the front axle could break on Actros 963 vehicles. The cause of the breakage may be edge corrosion due to insufficient descaling or surface defects during the rolling process. Each of the two fault profiles can cause a fracture independently of the other. The defective part analysis indicates that edge corrosion may result from scale residues not fully removed during the supplier's production run.
