DefectDue to a manufacturing issue, the right and/or left curtain airbag/s may be fitted with a faulty gas generator. As a result, the airbags may not deploy as intended. In the event of airbag deployment during an accident, the curtain airbag/s may not provide adequate protection for vehicle occupants which could increase the risk of injury or death.
RemedyOwners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Volkswagen Group Australia to schedule an appointment with their nearest authorised Volkswagen dealership to have the work carried out, free of charge.
