DefectThis recall relates to a potential concern with the vehicle’s hydrogen gas storage system, in particular the Thermally Activated Pressure Relief Device ("TPRD"). The TPRD is designed to vent hydrogen gas through a glass bulb-type release mechanism that fractures when a specific tank temperature is exceeded. It’s been identified that overtime this glass bulb-type release mechanism could prematurely fracture due to microcracks in the glass, which could lead to inadvertent discharge of hydrogen gas during normal vehicle operation or while stationary.
RemedyHyundai New Zealand will directly contact customers with affected vehicles.
