DefectDue to inadequate waterproofing of the front and rear wheel speed sensors, water may ingress into the sensor's interior during rain driving or similar conditions. This can lead to a short circuit in the sensor's circuitry, causing erratic wheel speed signals and speedometer malfunction, or activation of traction control, resulting in poor acceleration. In the worst case, it may falsely detect that a wheel has locked while driving, potentially causing the brakes to fail.
ComponentBraking system (wheel speed sensor)
RemedyOn all vehicles, replace the front and rear wheel speed sensors with improved parts.
