DefectIn the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) module of diesel engines, due to variations in the manufacturing process, some units may experience coolant leakage. In such cases, soot contained in the exhaust gas may mix with the coolant and accumulate inside the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) module, and the high-temperature deposits may flow into and adhere to the intake manifold, potentially causing the intake manifold to melt and be damaged. In the worst case, this could lead to a fire.
ComponentEngine (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Module)
RemedyFor all vehicles, the engine control unit (DDE) program will be rewritten with a countermeasure program to enable early detection of coolant leaks and engine overheating, and to illuminate a warning light. Furthermore, a protection function will be activated before damage to the intake manifold expands, an engine warning light will illuminate, and engine output will be limited. Additionally, if the warning light illuminates, the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) module will be inspected and replaced with a new one if necessary.
