DefectDue to improper crimping load settings for the clamp ring that secures the inflator (inflation device) to the side curtain airbag, some clamp rings are crimped with excessive load and have insufficient strength. Therefore, when the side curtain airbag deploys at high temperatures inside the vehicle, the internal pressure of the inflator increases, which may cause the clamp ring to rupture, preventing the airbag from deploying normally and potentially failing to satisfy occupant protection performance.
ComponentAirbag system (side curtain airbag)
Remedy① For all vehicles, replace the left and right side curtain airbags with improved parts. ② For all vehicles, replace the right side curtain airbag with an improved part.
