DefectIn the exhaust gas recirculation device (EGR) installed in naturally aspirated engines, due to inappropriate material of the EGR pipe flange and an unsuitable EGR operation control program, if short-distance driving in cold conditions is repeated, condensed water may adhere to the pipe flange and around the EGR valve opening, causing corrosion. As a result, if use continues, corroded fragments may become lodged between the EGR valve and the valve seat, and in the worst case, the engine may stop while driving and become unable to restart.

Remedy① For all vehicles, replace the EGR pipe with an improved part, rewrite the engine control computer with an improved program, and remove rust around the EGR valve opening.
