DefectIn trucks and buses equipped with headlights integrated with turn signal lamps, due to inadequate design review, some turn signal lamp bulb sockets have insufficient contact pressure with the contact terminals of the headlight-side contact ring. As a result, if use continues in this state, an oxide film will form on the terminals due to repeated blinking of the turn signal lamp. If this oxide film increases, the terminals of the bulb socket and contact ring will burn out or melt, causing the turn signal lamp to fail to illuminate.
ComponentLighting system (front turn signal lamp)
RemedyFor all vehicles, the headlight manufacturing number will be checked. If it is determined that a defective product is installed, the turn signal lamp bulb socket terminals will be inspected. If burning or melting is found, the entire headlight assembly will be replaced with an improved part. If no burning or melting is found, only the bulb socket will be replaced with an improved part.
