DefectDue to insufficient design consideration for the intake pipe seal, if blow-by condensate accumulated inside the intake pipe due to scratches or other damage leaks from the connection between the intake pipe and the turbocharger, it may drip onto the water pump connector. As a result, corrosion of the terminals inside the water pump connector may progress, and in the worst case, the terminals may short-circuit, leading to abnormal overheating and potentially a fire.
ComponentEngine (Water Pump)
RemedyFor all vehicles, inspect the intake pipe seal and replace it if deterioration is found. Additionally, inspect the connectors on the water pump side and the harness side, and depending on the situation, clean them or replace the water pump assembly and the harness side connector. Furthermore, for all vehicles, retrofit a splash guard cap to the connector.
