DefectIn low-pressure fuel pumps installed in vehicles designated for unleaded premium gasoline, due to an inappropriate inspection fluid used during pump operation inspection, the inspection fluid may penetrate the impeller (resin vane wheel), reducing its strength and causing cracks. As a result, repeated heating and cooling can cause the impeller cracks to propagate and swell due to fuel, leading to contact with the pump cover and malfunction, and in the worst case, the engine may stop while driving and become unable to restart.
ComponentFuel system (low-pressure fuel pump)
RemedyFor all affected vehicles, replace the low-pressure fuel pump with an improved part.
